April 22 is Earth Day 2009. It is a day to encourage environmentally healthy behaviors, and bring attention and awareness to our environment. In 1970, Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson, introduced the Earth Day movement and since then it is recognized and celebrated simultaneously by people all over the world. Beware if you buy it! It may change your life! It comes with the last of the Truffula Seeds. Everyone needs Truffula Trees so you must plant it and treat it with care. Give it clean water and lots of fresh air. Allow it to grow into a forest then protect it from axes...protect so the Lorax and his friends can come back.

The children's book called The Lorax was written by Dr. Seuss and first published in 1971. The Lorax is the authoritarian character who speaks up to save the Truffula Trees from the greedy Once-ler who cares only about making money. The Lorax has become a metaphor for environmentalists who want to make us aware of the hazards of over industrialization in our society. The Lorax is also a great way to teach our children about Earth Day (April 22) and the importance of environmental conservation.
